FIRST POST!

Thank you for checking out my blog. I plan to chronicle the restoration of my new baby,a Bristol 27 sailboat.

Current project is to strip and protect the woodwork. At the moment I have the toe rails about 80% stripped. Have been testing some homemade varnish recipes. If they do no meet the protective standard I require here in the hot Florida keys sun I will go with Le Tonkonois varnish.
Lucky for me the previous owners used some type of rubbery finish that peals away really easy. So far all the wood is in great shape needing to replace only a few plugs. I will be adding the results of my homemade varnish soon.

  1. While thinking on the kind of boat accessories you would like to buy, it is an even better idea to list out the accessories that you want to have starting with the fundamentals first.
